About the sessions

The mental health family and carer program consists of regular group sessions at The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital.

The purpose of these complimentary sessions is to inform and empower carers and family members of a person experiencing a mental health related issue. Sessions are presented in everyday language in a friendly, supportive environment.

Our health professionals will help you understand more about the issues your loved one is facing. You will have the opportunity to talk with others who may be going through a similar experience to yours.

Who can attend

Any carer or family member of a person who is experiencing a mental health related illness may attend free of charge.

There is no private health insurance or referral required to attend these complimentary sessions.

Guest speakers

Guest speakers will include representatives from a range of clinical disciplines including consultant psychiatrists, pharmacists, psychologists, and mental health nurses.

Each guest speaker will present on a specific topic.

How to attend

Sessions are held on the first Wednesday of every month. The guest speakers will present from 5.30pm
– 6.30pm. Informal networking takes place from 6.30pm – 7.30pm where light refreshments will be
served.
