GENERAL MANAGER - Shane Mitchell

Shane Mitchell

Shane Mitchell is our General Manager, having joined our team in September 2021.

Shane has worked in healthcare for 32 years, with about 20 years working as a clinician in emergency departments and in international retrievals which involved retrieving injured Australians from overseas or returning injured visitors back to their home countries.

For the past 14 years, Shane has worked in leadership positions in various hospitals in Queensland encompassing roles including CEO, Director of Clinical Services and Director of Support Services.

Shane’s vision is continue to assist and support the Buderim Private Hospital team to improve and provide the best possible care to our patients.

DIRECTOR OF CLINICAL SERVICES - Emma Prosser

Emma Prosser

Emma joined the Buderim Private Hospital team in January 2023 having worked in senior leadership roles for nearly ten years across the Sunshine coast and regional NSW. Emma has extensive Director of Clinical Services experience and her portfolio includes commissioning a new healthcare facility as well as service development and redesign, she has also been the Executive lead for numerous change management initiatives.  

Emma has a strong clinical background and prior to embarking on her leadership roles, was a Urology Nurse Practitioner, with a degree in Cancer Care.

Emma is a  nurse who absolutely loves the profession and feels privileged to be in a position where she can influence patient outcomes by providing a highly skilled and diverse clinical workforce to deliver the best possible care. Her passion is providing innovative solutions to the everchanging challenges that face the healthcare profession

Her vision for Buderim is to create a strong supportive culture of lifelong learning where patient safety and multidisciplinary working practices are embedded.  

DIRECTOR OF MEDICAL SERVICES - Dr Carl Scott MBBS, FANZCA, FCICM

BPH Dr Carl Scott

Dr Scott graduated in Medicine from the University of Queensland.

He completed anaesthetic training in Queensland and further completed Intensive Care training in Queensland and New South Wales before moving to practice at Nambour Hospital and, latterly, the Sunshine Coast University Hospital and Buderim Private Hospital.

He has presented at ASA meetings on “Epidurals in the ICU” (ICU update) and “Futile Surgery” (symposium).

He maintains an interest in medico-legal matters.

DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE SERVICES - Craig Walker

Craig has an extensive background in the healthcare industry where he has led all of the non-clinical services that support excellence in clinical care. 
 
Prior to joining Buderim Private Hospital, Craig was the General Manager of Financial Control at Metro North Hospital and Health Service in Brisbane, which is the largest Hospital and Health Service in Australia. 
 
He has also held other Hospital Executive positions across Queensland which includes valuable experience in a rural and remote setting.
 
Craig has played a key leadership role in the design of several new greenfield and brownfield Hospitals in Queensland and has a keen interest on leading and developing staff to provide the highest possible services for all patients.
 
Craig is a Fellow of CPA Australia.
 
Craig's vision is to further enhance the non-clinical services provided to all patients who choose to visit Buderim Private Hospital.
