ACCESS
To have access to healthcare services to address their needs.

SAFETY
To receive safe, high quality health services, provided with professional care, skill and competence.

RESPECT
To be shown respect, dignity and consideration of their beliefs, values and personal characteristics.

COMMUNICATION
To be informed about services, treatment options and costs in a clear and open way.

PARTICIPATION
To be included in decisions and choices about their care.

PRIVACY
To personal privacy and the confidentiality of their personal information.

COMMENT
To comment or complain about their care and have their concerns dealt with properly and promptly.

The RESPONSIBILITIES of every patient include:

COMPLIANCE WITH TREATMENT
To participate and comply with their treatment and care as planned with their doctor and other members of the clinical team.

FINANCIAL LIABILITY
To be, or to become, fully aware of the costs they incur during their admission and treatment and the subsequent payment of outstanding expenses on or prior to discharge.

PROVISION OF INFORMATION
To the best of their knowledge, to supply accurate and complete information about their presenting problem/s, past illnesses, previous hospitalisations, medications and other matters relating to their health and treatment.

REFUSAL OF TREATMENT
The responsibility of accepting the consequences of their own actions if they refuse treatment.
