Mental health is one of the major health issues facing Australia in the 21st century with more than 45 per cent of the population experiencing a mental health issue during their lifetime – whether it’s depression, anxiety or addiction. Often these conditions go untreated due to misconceptions in society about their seriousness – this can lead to feeling isolated and unsupported within the community and some people not knowing where to seek support.
The Sunshine Coast Private Hospital at Buderim has a number of credentialed Consultant Psychiatrists able to provide specialist assessment and treatment who are supported by a team of specialist mental health clinicians located within Cooinda Mental Health Service. The team consists of Registrar in Psychiatry, Mental Health Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapist, Exercise Physiologist and a 24-hour medical service. Other specialties such as Social Work, Dietician and Physiotherapy and Pastoral services are available as required.
