Dr Maya Menon is a General Adult Psychiatrist credentialed to provide hospital treatment at Buderim Private Hospital. Dr Menon obtained her Postgraduate Psychiatry degree in 2002 from a premier tertiary hospital in New Delhi, India, where she worked in areas of General Adult/Geriatric/Addiction Psychiatry, as well as Child and Adolescent mental health services for six years.
She moved to Australia in 2005 after finishing three years of post MD senior residency from the same hospital. She worked in the Child and Youth Mental Health Service in the CQ Public Mental Health Unit from 2005-2009. After obtaining RANZCP Fellowship in 2010, she worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist in the Rockhampton Public Mental Health Service.
Dr Menon started her private practice in Hillcrest Hospital, Rockhampton, in 2012, including treating older adolescent age group patients (16 years and above). From 2009-2014, Dr Menon was a Consultant Psychiatrist leading the old age Psychiatry team and from 2011-2014 the planning of the Old Age Psychiatric Inpatient Unit.
After 12 years of private practice in Rockhampton, Dr Menon moved to the Sunshine Coast in January 2024. Her private practice is mainly at Buderim Private Hospital, however she continues Telehealth services for Central Queensland patients.
She is certified to deliver somatic treatments like Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) with involvement in postgraduate ECT training and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS).
